Businessman Yegor Kormiltsev on the day of his 40th birthday learns that he is deadly ill and that he has several months to live. Yegor goes on a farewell trip to his home town, where his mother, sister and nephew live, with whom he has not seen for many years.

In the deaf taiga, hiding from the world, lives a family: Polina, Prokhor and their 22-year-old granddaughter Euphrosyne. Prokhor, once in love with a convoy, helped political prisoner Polina escape. They hid in the taiga in an abandoned hunting lodge, and have since kept in touch with the outside world only through a local huntsman.

Meanwhile, a group of geologists arrives in the taiga on behalf of businessman Martynov – they must find a secret gold deposit, which, according to locals, has a terrible curse. Among the geologists – Maxim and Tatiana in love with him. But one night Maxim sees Euphrosyne bathing in a waterfall. The appearance of a girl in such a deaf place arouses his curiosity – he rushes in search of a beautiful stranger. In the forest, Maxim is attacked by a bear, but Prokhor saves him from imminent death and brings him to his house. From that moment on, the fate of Euphrosyne changed dramatically. Love, meanness, betrayal, forgiveness, but, above all – she learns the secret of her birth.

Unexpectedly, it turns out that businessman Martinov, who initiated the search for gold, once lost his family in these parts: the helicopter on which his wife and little daughter were flying crashed. And Euphrosyne is not the granddaughter of Prochorus and Polina, she will find. Martinov takes the girl to the city, and it is there that the taiga beauty begins to have problems.
