A story unfolds about the residents of a house in the Kyiv region from April to June 2022, following the de-occupation of the Kyiv region, situated not far from the conflict zone. We become acquainted with the inhabitants of the house—a family with two daughters, a lone man whose family has moved to Western Ukraine, a 90-year-old grandmother who refuses to seek shelter, believing that the walls of her apartment protect her, a doctor recovering from a concussion and soon returning to the front, Grandma Liza, who holds pro-Russian views, and the eccentric family of Aunt Mila, among others. Through the eyes of the main character, 17-year-old Marichka, who is trying to resolve/escape her own problems, we discover the lives of those who have been living alongside her all this time.

Just when it seemed that solutions were found and a purpose in life was discovered, everything is shattered by an enemy missile that destroys the entrance to the building and the lives of its inhabitants.

The Virtual Reality film Shelter gives viewers an intimate look at the war in Ukraine. The film immerses them in everyday scenes and invites them to witness moments of shared humanity and reflect on the cost of war.

The film immerses the viewer in everyday scenes: from a tender conversation between pregnant women in an underground maternity ward in Kyiv to the heart-wrenching funeral of a soldier in Lviv. From the tense preparation of soldiers in a frontline barracks to the breathtaking performance of a symphony orchestra in a basement in Kharkiv. In Shelter, the audience is invited to step into a virtual space with people from Ukraine, to witness moments of shared humanity and reflect on the cost of war.

At the center of the plot are two Ukrainian families with different social status (the SidOrenkov family is very wealthy and SidorEnky lives modestly), but they are united not only by the same surname but also by the vicissitudes of the past. One day, it turns out that their 16-year-old sons were once mixed up in a maternity hospital ...
