We become acquainted with the inhabitants of the house—a family with two daughters, a lone man whose family has moved to Western Ukraine, a 90-year-old grandmother who refuses to seek shelter, believing that the walls of her apartment protect her, a doctor recovering from a concussion and soon returning to the front, Grandma Liza, who holds pro-Russian views, and the eccentric family of Aunt Mila, among others. Through the eyes of the main character, 17-year-old Marichka, who is trying to resolve/escape her own problems, we discover the lives of those who have been living alongside her all this time.

Just when it seemed that solutions were found and a purpose in life was discovered, everything is shattered by an enemy missile that destroys the entrance to the building and the lives of its inhabitants.
