With the start of the war in eastern Ukraine, 22-year-old Vlad left his peaceful life in Kharkiv and volunteered.
He enters the atmosphere of brotherhood and finds his second family. Because he is fond of weapons, he gets the position of head of the armoury, and helps newcomers to acquire skills. Vlad establishes friendly relations with Deus, an IT specialist from Kharkiv, together they produce explosives and take their first fight.
An 18-year-old girl with the nickname Nika arrives in the battalion. She is attractive, bold and fearless. The guy immediately falls in love with her, she manipulates him and gets a weapon through him. Due to the approach of the enemy's troops, the authorities are attacking the enemy's position. Deus was killed, and the shy Vlad at the crucial moment lined up a Russian tank and became a hero in his mouth.
Nika goes to Dnipro, where she meets a man who pretends to be a true patriot and one who cares about the safety of volunteers, but is actually a Kremlin agent. Nika receives a secret task from him.
Lovers go on a rotation to Kyiv, in the capital they face the quiet city life of people who are indifferent to the war, which is 10 hours drive from the city. Police crimes against protesters during the country's revolution also go unpunished. Impressed by the contrast of life in the war and in the capital, Nika, upon arrival at the military base, persuades Vlad and a couple of young men to carry out a terrorist attack in Kyiv to remind civilians of the events in the East.
He and 2 other volunteers are taking out a large number of weapons from the base. The guys are going to Kyiv, Nika is in charge of the operation. In Kyiv, Vlad understands that the girl is using him and is aware of the scale and consequences of what is planned. At the last moment, he refuses to commit a terrorist attack and decides to return to base. Leaving Kyiv, the guys understand that there is not enough gasoline, there is no money. At the gas station, hoping for understanding, they try to refuel the car, but face the indifference of the employee and unwillingness to help. There is a conflict between one of the guys and the cashier, the guy threatens him with a weapon and shoots him in the arm. The boys begin to flee, the police appear. Vlad stops the car, shows the documents. Looking at the documents of a military volunteer, one of the policemen says that he broke sculls on the Maidan like Vlad.
Vlad can't stand taking out a gun and kills men. The boys get into a car, chase and shootout with police. Boys are injured, the car is blocked. Police pulled out Vlad and kicked him to death.
Nika and the boys are tried and imprisoned, but the girl is later released as a political prisoner.

Oles Shevchenko admits that he became a dissident in the ninth grade, because even then he did not accept the system that prevailed under Stalin and felt that this was not the way to live. And this resistance was constantly growing. First, while studying at the university, young Oles boldly asked his professors why lectures were given in Russian, and then he joined the Ukrainian Helsinki Group, which united dissidents who did not want and could not live in the Soviet system. And then there was his arrest, accusations of committing crimes against the Soviet Union, trial, sentence, and many years in exile. Only four years before Ukraine gained its independence, Oles Shevchenko was released by the system against which he had fought his entire life.
