Since the beginning of the Anti-Terrorist Operation in eastern Ukraine, the city of Tulchyn has been actively involved in the volunteer movement with the aim of providing the military and members of the volunteer movement not only with the necessities of life, including medicines, canned food and clothing, but also with moral support for the defenders through charity concerts and cultural events. In August 2016, the Tulchyn City Territorial Community was formed, uniting several surrounding towns and villages, which simplified some bureaucratic mechanisms for providing humanitarian aid and further intensified public activity in this area. The most active members of the volunteer movement continue their fruitful work and give interviews in which they describe the charitable and cultural events that have already been held, such as a music concert with elements of folk art for the 30th separate mechanized brigade.
The respondents are: Stanislav Prylypko, founder of the regional newspaper Tulchynskyi Krai; Oksana Peslyak, psychologist at the Tulchyn College of Culture; Tetiana Honcharuk, guest specialist at the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, who visits training grounds to provide psychological training to soldiers preparing for combat operations; Lyudmila Koval – volunteer and teacher at the same Tulchyn College of Culture, where she oversees the collection of humanitarian aid among the staff and students of the institution, as well as organizes visits to wounded compatriots at the Vinnytsia Military Medical Clinical Centre. Lyudmila also writes poetry and recites one of her poems, ‘Is there anything more important in life?’
