Quo Vadis?

Quo Vadis is a feature length documentary film about the Ukrainian refugee crisis and the response from regular Polish citizens in the picturesque Pieniny mountains of Southern Poland.

As legend has it, Polish Queen Kinga came across the Pieniny Mountains as she was fleeing the Second Mongol invasion back in the XIII century. She dropped her crown on this land, and on this site grew rocky mountain peaks which stopped the invaders and protected her and her followers. To commemorate her, these mountain peaks earned their name: Trzy Korony (Three Crowns).

Almost 8 centuries later, Ukrainians fleeing the horrors of Russian invasion found their way to the same sacred lands where they were met with kindness and protection of locals. The film follows a Polish hotel owner and hotel staff as well as the displaced people that they have taken in during times of need.

Although the conditions that meet the eye in Trzy Korony are uniquely hospitable, we see the challenges of the unknown on both sides: the locals who have decided to provide help and the displaced and traumatized individuals who receive it.

Shot over the course of 3 months, the film shares the stories and perspectives of displaced people who now are faced with the decision of where to go next. Will they continue living each day waiting for peace and the opportunity to return home, putting their life on pause, or will they move forward?

Our film explores universal questions of humanity in times of crisis.
