The film reveals little-known but important historical events related to the emergence of US-Ukrainian friendly relations and the introduction of American ideas of democracy to Ukraine.

The film's protagonist, John Paul Jones, is a son of Scotland, an American citizen, a French chevalier, a Russian rear admiral, and an honorary Zaporizhzhia Cossack. A pirate who becomes the founder of the most powerful fleet in the world. A slave trader who fights for freedom. A gardener's son who takes care of the king's daughter. A rear admiral who fraternises with the Cossacks. A hero of three states who dies in obscurity. His unmarked grave is found 100 years later, his remains are transported across the ocean and buried under a marble sarcophagus as a US national hero. Another century would pass, and he would be remembered in Ukraine...

The film takes place in a boarding school for the blind, deaf and dumb children located on the river bank. The teacher of the school Alexey falls in love with a young practitioner of Lika who came to study the development of intimate relationships in children. They are opening up this forbidden sphere to young residents of a dormitory, which is causing a storm that makes one forget about tranquility, manifesting characters and relationships that will never be the same again.
