У молодого психолога Артема стається біда. Його близька людина страждає від наркотиків. Розвивається амфетаміновий психоз. Вона стає небезпечною — ходить зі зброєю і цілиться в людей.

Артем починає шукати можливість врятувати її. І ще будучи студентом, протягом трьох років працює в реабілітаційних центрах для алко і наркозалежних людей. Ця робота травмує його – усі заклади – закритого типу, людей там утримують силою.

Щоб дізнатися, що таке закриті центри і які методи там застосовують, журналісти Суспільного вирушають у різні міста України і опитують десятки колишніх реабілітантів. Розслідувачі викривають великі мережі центрів, у яких людей б'ють, зв'язують скотчем і змушують молитися. Команда Суспільного виявляє випадки, коли живими з центрів реабілітанти не поверталися.

Під час свого розслідування журналісти також викривають, що за гроші в такий заклад можна закрити навіть людину без залежності. Система працює в тіні, і принципи такої реабілітації підтримують політики. Прихильником мережі МАА виявився сам президент Володимир Зеленський. Більше того, зараз українські політики намагаються узаконити фінасування приватних центрів з держбюджету.
