A film from the film series Chosen by Time.

The film is about the Ukrainian artist Yukhym Mykhailiv (1885-1935), who fell victim to another massive purge ordered by Joseph Stalin and died in exile in northern Russia.

The first love of Ania and Andrii, who studied together at a school in a small urban village, is suddenly interrupted by a ridiculous misunderstanding. The lovers go their separate ways. Andrii becomes a career soldier and takes part in battles in eastern Ukraine. Ania moves to the capital to pursue a career and arrange her personal life there.

The Great War changes the lives of the protagonists drastically and irrevocably. Andriy is seriously wounded, almost loses his eyesight, and returns to his native village where his son lives. A rocket hits Anna and Oleksii's house. The man is killed. Anna goes home to recover and meets her first love.

On the eve of opening her own salon, Bella Vita, for which she risked almost everything, even her family home, Vita accidentally finds herself at the centre of the high-profile wedding of wealthy businessman Vladyslav Sikorskyi. When the bride unexpectedly runs away just before the ceremony, the girl is asked to temporarily play her role in front of the groom's guests and business partners. However, the agreement, which was supposed to last only a few hours, turns into a complex and risky game.

Now Vita has to decide whether she is ready to jeopardise her dream, reputation and future for the sake of her feelings. And is this real love, or just another beautiful illusion?
