A Farewell to Bullfight

83 minutes - Ukraine 2010

Genre DramaScreen adaptation

Category Full-length

Director Igor Parfenov

Based on Jack London’s short story The Madness of John Garnett.

The arena jealously guards its secrets. And now, for the first time, the backstage of the bullfight opens its doors to a Russian judoka who, by a twist of fate, has found himself in the very heart of the events unfolding in Pamplona during the fiesta, where the inhuman passions of his new acquaintances, the matadors, mixing blood and sand, life and death, sex and love, have already thrown him, like a Russian bull, to the mercy of the greatest matador of all time — the crowd.

But killing the crazed Russian turned out to be no easy task, and more people died that day than had been killed by bull horns in all the arenas of Spain over the past fifty years. The arena was once again drenched in blood, and Ernest Hemingway’s suicide and his final message served as the epilogue to this story.
