At the heart of the film is a true story of the life of a Ukrainian Jewess, Nina Laktionova, who managed to survive the catastrophe and literally "get out of hell" during World War II.

In addition to the main storyline, the story reveals the history of the Holocaust as a whole, which attracted many researchers on the subject throughout Ukraine. In Kharkov, the concentration camp was located on the site of a modern tractor factory. The main character of the film, Nina, got there at the age of five with her family and only one of them managed to survive.
