When he returned from St. Petersburg to Kyiv, he submitted a request for resignation. Kuprin tried to be a newspaper employee, a construction manager, an actor, a chief accountant in a forge, a mover, a dental technician, a gymnastics teacher and even a fisherman. Et cetera, et cetera… He wanted “to see everything, to know everything, to be able to do everything and to write about everything”. The literary career of Oleksandr Kuprin (1870-1938) began in Kyiv.
