Adaptation of the first novel Election Silence (Croatian:Izborna šutnja), which is part of the trilogy of bestselling novels by Drago Headle "Slavonian Trilogy", based on real events.

The action takes place in the present day in Croatia and Ukraine. The first girl drowned. The second died of a drug overdose. The main suspect in these deaths soon turns out to be innocent and… also dead. As detective Volodymyr and reporter Strybor struggle to solve these murders in Croatia, the niece of a Ukrainian philanthropist, Olga, goes missing in Kyiv. Olga's husband, Ivan Horvatich, one of the most influential people in the Croatian city of Osijek, undertakes to help the investigation. But suddenly the missing girl is found dead. Not in Kyiv, but in Osiek. And this is the third girl victim. It looks like a serial killer is on the loose in Croatia. The three heroes - Stribor, Vladimir and Olga - will get to the truth, but each of them will pay a high price for it. The reporter Strybor will have to compromise his own moral principles. Detective Volodymyr may have to put his ex-wife in prison for murder. And Olga's happy and strong marriage will be threatened by a horrific story about smuggling weapons and young girls to Europe.

The film tells the story of the life and work of Mykola Bazhan (1904-1983), a prominent Ukrainian poet, statesman and public figure of the twentieth century. The film recreates the spirit of the Soviet times, which were extremely cruel to the Ukrainian intelligentsia, and against this background, it portrays a portrait of an ambiguous, multifaceted, extremely talented poet and wise man.
