Lviv region, the quiet town of Drohobych. The early 1990s. This was a time when secrets began to come to light.

When those who knew and remained silent began to speak. When the very ground beneath our feet began to speak, revealing evidence of horrific events to researchers.

The beautiful building of the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of Drohobych Pedagogical University was built during the Austro-Hungarian Empire for the district court. Since the early 1960s, it has been a hub of student life. However, for 40 years, the walls of this building held a terrible secret that was only whispered about. The NKVD prison created in this building became a place of serious crimes, the truth about which only began to emerge in independent Ukraine thanks to concerned citizens.

It's a Christmas adventure, a story of Love, Goodness, Courage and Honor, imbued with the spirit of Ukrainian Cossack legends and images of Christmas family traditions and holidays. The Ukrainian village, which lives a quiet and peaceful life, comes to life on Christmas Eve — filled with songs, music, the spirit of delicious roast and festivities.

Vasyl, a Cossack, and his children are repairing the Christmas star so that in the evening the children can greet their godparents with carols. Vasyl's wife, Kateryna, is busy at the stove preparing a festive dinner.

Kum, a Cossack character, lives alone in the village, away from the community. No one, not even the old woman Karpyha, who spreads gossip in the village, knows who he was or where he came from. Kum's sturdy physique and reticence cause fear among the adults in the village, but not among the children. The children feel that the Cossack is carefully hiding a secret from people. But they are more curious than scared. In fact, a long time ago…

The film tells the story of the people through whose eyes Ukrainians and the world look at the events of our time – photographers who document the war and its consequences. The project was filmed with government support.

The film's protagonists include Stas Kozliuk, Heorhiy Ivanchenko, Yefrem Lukatsky, Arsenii Herasymenko, Danylo Pavlov, Nicoletta Stoianova, Olha Kovalova, Kateryna Radchenko, and Yevhen Diaditsyn. Their works are often frightening in their truth, and then they receive a warning label for readers: "Content of a sensitive nature".

The film's protagonists share their understanding of the art of photography as a universal language that can tell the world the truth about war, and talk about the ethical dilemmas they face in their work.
