V. Silvestrov

143 minutes - Ukraine 2020

Genre Documentary

Category Full-length documentary

Director Serhіy Bukovsykiy

The documentary Silvestrov, dedicated to this brilliant Ukrainian composer, is far from a traditional biopic about a prominent person. It is an observation, a confession and, most of all, a story of great talent set against the backdrop of uncertain times.

Of course, film authors pay tribute to the composer’s creative techniques: avantgarde of the 1960s, forced into underground at the times of socialist realism, postmodernism (his main obsession during the 1970s), metaphorical music and contemporary pieces that charm audiences around the world. But it is also a personal story of a genius mind with its oddity, curiosity and emotional depth.

According to the novel of the same name by Vladimir Eshkiliev.

The reality studio "I'm jealous" is being filmed at the TV studio. The management of the channel that ordered the show is not satisfied with the ratings and insists on increasing the degree of provocation. The producer of the show Anton demands from the participants to act out scenes of jealousy "on the verge of a foul". On the set, the situation is getting out of hand. The administrative group of the show is involved in uncontrolled "games of jealousy", which makes Anton suspect: the show has a background, "invisible script" – "Show about filming the show", which is designed for elite consumers of closed sites.

For Anton, a member of the family of a high-ranking official, this situation looks humiliating. He is trying to find out who is behind the invisible scenario. At the same time, there is an emergency in the studio – someone kills the assistant administrator, Mila, a girl with a dark past and specific sexual preferences.

Now Anton's investigation is aimed at solving the crime. In the hysterical atmosphere that prevails on the show after the murder of Mila, there are a number of scandals that help Anton discover the shocking truth.

Finding out that he was considered a fake, Anton goes to clarify the relationship, which almost ends tragically.
