Varvara Grishina works in her uncle's medical center. She is a pediatrician, loves her profession, but she cannot have children herself. This is why her past relationship with football coach Ivan was ruined. They were in love, but Ivan wanted a large family and left her as soon as he learned that Varya was infertile.

But Varya was able to start a new life. She agreed to marry her colleague Rodion Kozlov. The wedding day comes, the guests gather, but the groom is late. At this point, he rushes to the hospital with his former mistress Karina, who began a premature birth with severe complications.

During childbirth, Karina dies. Obstetric surgeon Lydia Gatich, who operated on Karina, learned the day before that a surrogate mother who had given birth to a child for one wealthy childless couple - fashionable photographer Vyacheslav Perlin and his wife Olga - had escaped. Lydia urgently needed a lot of money. She decides to commit a crime and give Olga Perlina the son of Rodion and the deceased Karina…

This documentary series, produced with the support of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, explores the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war (2014), covering events from the burial of the Heavenly Hundred to the liberation. The films are based on real newsreels and interviews with people who were either participants in or witnesses to the events.

Series 1: «After Maidan. Crimea». It covers the chaos following the Revolution of Dignity, the blockade of Ukrainian military units in Crimea, and the start of the occupation. 

Episode 2: “The Invasion: Donbas”. It focuses on the invasion of Russian troops into Donbas, the volunteer movement, and the liberation of Mariupol from Russian occupation.

The films feature footage from the H. S. Pshenychny Central State Film, Photo and Sound Archive of Ukraine, the ‘Babylon’13’ film collective and the ‘Yellow Bus’ film company.
