The film is based on the epic of two peoples: the Ukrainian thought About the three Azov brothers and the Crimean-Tatar saying Song of the dervish about valiant mamluks. They are talking about the same events: three Cossack brothers who escaped from Turkish captivity and three Tatar Janissary soldiers who rushed after them. As the fugitives only got two horses, the third, youngest brother, was forced to leave, hoping that he would escape from the pursuit under the cover of high steppe grasses and ravines. He is exhausted by a young Tartar who lives alone on the border in the steppe. Bring home, treat; falls in love with him, becomes his wife.
