Tymur was born in Cherkasy in a family of lawyers in 1985. After graduating from Cherkasy National University in 2007, he left his hometown and moved to Kyiv, where he made his first, and later second, amateur film with a team of friends. In early 2009 he began studying at the art school "Kulturama" in Stockholm in the film production line, where he created 2 short feature films as a director and screenwriter and had the opportunity to practice all basic film professions: director, cameraman, producer, editor, actor, etc. 

In 2010 he entered the directing department at the Łódź Film School (PWSFTVIT) and successfully finished it in 2014.

In 2016, Tymur received funding for a professional short feature film "Lew" from "Studio Munka" in Warsaw, which was fully produced in Ukraine and became a prologue to the feature debut "U311 Cherkasy".

In 2020 he successfully debuted in Ukraine with the feature film "U311 Cherkasy".  The director's version of the film had its Ukrainian premiere at the Odessa Film Festival and the international premiere in the main competition of the "Class A" Warsaw Film Festival in 2019.

Tymur Yashchenko lives and works in Warsaw and Kyiv.
