Online platforms around the world are gaining in popularity among users. There is no doubt that in the future, interest in them will only grow: users with streaming can consume content in a convenient mode for themselves, and the producers here are not limited to the frames present in the television.
In Ukraine, the broadcasting market is at an early stage of development. But, paying attention to the world experience, it is quite logical and correct to use the opportunities that digital opens to content creators. That's why Star Media, in partnership with the international film company Apple Tree, announces a pitching of ideas, the main criterion for which will focus on online platforms.
Do you have an idea for a project - a series or a feature film - that you consider to be a potential hit, but TV channels do not take it because of too many bold and twisted moves? Have come up with an exciting project, but the number of candid scenes and too much "live" language are not allowed on the television screen? Is your story unique and unusual? Such works are accepted for participation in the pitching, with the possibility of further realization and displaying online.
"We are looking for new writers with a non-template mindset who are able to work in new realities. Together, we will be able to work on content not only for traditional TV, but also to respond to today's challenges of the industry - to create content for online platforms, "- said founder and general producer of Star Media, Vlad Ryashin.
The pitching will be held in two stages: first, a selection committee consisting of experienced producers, directors and screenwriters in Ukraine, as well as international producers, will review all the works and form a shortlist and then select the winners. The commission will be headed by French producer Jean-Charles Levi (one of the founders of Apple Tree). Top authors will get a chance to see their idea translated into one of the popular online platforms.
"Numerous worldwide practices show that films and series created for digital platforms are bolder, more intense and brighter than projects made for television. The limits of streaming are much broader, and content writers have far fewer constraints, which has a positive effect on creativity, ”says French producer Jean-Charles Levi (in his filmography of the film,“ Ghostland ”,“ Ghostland ”). , Far from Heaven, which are among the best rated IMDB).
Pitching applications are accepted from both experienced screenwriters and alumni and students of specialized universities. In such a turbulent time for the company, the priority in conducting this pitching is the social aspect - to support young, talented authors, to give them the opportunity to express themselves and gain experience in a professional environment. Participation in pitching is free.
Please note that the application must include the author's first and last name, telephone number and email address. Also indicate the genre of the project, its language, format (vertical / horizontal), number and timing of episodes. The bible of heroes (short descriptions of the main characters), the project logline, the first season synopsis (no more than two pages in Courier New 12 font), the pilot's script and the list of project references should be left with the application.
Applications are accepted by pitchideas@starmediafilm.com
