1985. Senior Lieutenant Grigory Vershinin, a firefighter, is struggling to come to terms with his break-up with his now ex-fiancée Vika, a doctor who left him for Samoilov, the hospital’s chief physician. But one day everything changes — during a fire at the children’s library, one of the staff members, Olga, nearly loses her life. Grigory rescues Olga from the flames. They fall in love and get married.

Nine months later, Olga gives birth to twins – two healthy boys. However, that very night, Vika – who is now in charge of this maternity hospital – stands in Olga and Grigory’s way. She faces a very difficult choice: an hour ago, Irina, the daughter of the first secretary of the regional committee, gave birth to a very frail baby in her maternity hospital; they were unable to save the child, but no one knows this yet. If Vika does not find another baby for Irina by morning, her career will be ruined. After agonising over the decision, Vika finds herself outside the newborns’ ward, where the Vershinin twins are lying . . .

On February 24, 2022, Russian troops entered the Chornobyl exclusion zone. They seized the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, held the plant's employees captive, looted, and needed the zone itself as a transit area for further advancement to Kyiv.

The documentary project The Visible Enemy tells what the occupation of the exclusion zone by the Russian army was really like. The project's creative team tried to establish the chronology of the events of February 24 and collected the memories of direct witnesses to the events: exclusion zone employees, self-settlers, border guards, and a rescue team that spent the entire period of occupation in Chornobyl.
