The fourth film in the documentary series Big Russian Lies.
A story about Russia's attempts to use art to influence the political situation. An example of this is the performances of Russian artists on the ruins of Ukrainian cities, which contrast with the actions of other Russians who are destroying historical artefacts on Ukrainian territory.

The series takes place simultaneously in three time periods: 1944, 1991, and 2005, in modern-day Ukraine.
With the arrival of Soviet power after the war in the village of Stanova in Bukovina, activist Fedir Hryshchuk kills the owner of the family castle, Nikolai von Busof. Von Busof's wife, who was pregnant at the time, fled to Austria, where she soon gave birth to a daughter, Julia.
With the declaration of Ukraine's independence, Yulia, now an adult, travels with her husband Boris and son Mykola to Stanova to find the family jewels that their father hid in the forest under an oak tree. In the village, she meets the sons of her father's killer, Semen and Ivan. The search in 1991 lasted several months. The family from Austria stayed at the house of the older brother, Semen. He is raising his daughter Katya alone, as his wife died in childbirth. Katya and Nikolai meet and fall in love. At the same time, under strange circumstances, Katya's father disappears. Someone also kills Mykola's mother because of the von Busof family's valuables. Mykola's father is imprisoned on charges of murdering his wife. The boy is taken in by his grandmother, while his uncle (Ivan) and aunt send Katya to an orphanage.
Time passes, and Nikolai, now an adult and an investigator, returns to Stanovo in 2005 to solve his mother's murder and find the real culprit. At the same time, Katya also returns home to the town. They meet again and fall in love. But a new rift emerges between the characters, and this time it is not distance, but a secret... and not just one! The antagonist in all these events is Katya's uncle, Ivan. Mykola's investigation continues and leads to a series of unexpected discoveries.
