Nadiya is a virtuoso at creating unforgettable flavours and original designs for wedding cakes. Life is always bustling around her. But, in addition to her love of the art of confectionery, Nadiya has a talent for bringing lonely hearts together. Viktor, on the other hand, is reserved, fair and sceptical about experiments.

The real competition begins when Victor learns that his colleague is helping to create families. He considers Nadia a swindler, and she offers him a couple.

At the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, an 17-y.o. almost deaf girl Olga comes to the house of her father Roman and his new family in Bucha, near Kyiv. But suddenly the house is captured by the Russian occupants. They intimidate the family, threatening them with death and rape, mock Olga and subject her father to a “filtration” procedure.

The conflict between Olga and her stepmother Marina escalates, whom the girl considers responsible for her parents' divorce. Also suddenly Olga understood that she is a foster daughter…However parental love of Roman is stronger than the weapons of the occupiers. Olga's father sacrifices himself to help other family to escape. Caught between life and death, the girl has to forget about resentment and save her family with the last of her strength.

The film is dedicated to the outstanding Ukrainian doctors of the 20th century - the Kolomiichenko brothers: surgeon Mykhailo Sydorovych and otolaryngologist Oleksiy Sydorovych, who made a glorious journey from the lowest peasant level to the highest peaks of world science.

Militantropos captures the human condition through the fractured realities of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The film pieces together everyday lives transformed by war – those who flee, those who lose everything, and those who stay to resist and fight – tracing both the instinct to survive and the need for closeness. Amid devastation and atrocity, the human is absorbed into war – and war, in turn, becomes part of the human.

The events unfold after 2014 in the fictional reoccupied mining town of Bronzove in the Luhansk region, modelled on the real town of Zolote, which is returning to peaceful life in Ukraine.

Former friends and now bitter enemies, Pavlo Dotsenko and Hrysha Kulikov become the main contenders for the position of mayor, but their views on the future of the city are fundamentally different. Their dispute is interrupted by the love between the children of the feuding families.
