Art in the Land of War is a Ukrainian documentary series, co-produced by DocNoteFilms studio and Babylon’13 film collective.

It consists of 25 short stories about Ukrainian artists – painters, musicians, sculptors, and writers, who did not leave Ukraine during the war.

Following their everyday life and creative process, the project tries to find an answer to the central question: what is the place of art and the artist in the country at war?

Hryhir Tiutiunnyk was born in the picturesque Poltava region, but he did not have a happy childhood. His father died early in life, and the war caused many losses… After the war, Hryhir graduated from high school and entered a craft school. It was then that he first tried to write. And since then, his every day has turned into a persistent search for words and a long reflection on each line he writes…

In every work, every story by Hryhir Tiutiunnyk, one can trace the memories of his childhood, feel the pain inflicted on him as a young boy by the cruel war.

The creations of the famous Kyiv architect Vladyslav Horodetskyi (1863-1930) were depicted on postcards of Kyiv in the early twentieth century: the Museum of Antiquities and Arts, a 6-storey "skyscraper", the Karaite kinasa, and the Church of St Nicholas. But Gorodetsky became famous after his own house appeared on the steep slope of Bankivska Street in Kyiv.

Alexey on the eve of the defense of the degree of Doctor of Science. Everything is prepared for this event. However, the plans were not destined to come true - the news of the death of his half-brother, who went to war in Chechnya, comes. The killer who ordered Aslan to be buried alive is a Russian officer who is left alive and unpunished. Alexei's measured life ends. The stranger who reported the news pushes him to retaliate. While tracking the murderer in the courtyard of his house, Alex meets a lonely woman, Vera, who lives in the apartment next door to the killer. Their relationship is formed against the background of preparation for revenge.

The stranger finds the addresses of the killer, but he is arrested by a riot police patrol. Alexei writes a will and goes to the fish farm, where he finds the officer already dead. Trying to warn Alex that they may be looking for her, Vera rushes to his house, and, having managed to convey a message through the boy on roller skates, she falls under the car.
