Irina works at the post office, distributes letters and newspapers. Low salary, work, which many consider ungrateful ... But she does not focus on material goods, she has a beloved husband Denis, a former sailor and now a factory mechanic. The climate in the family should be called ideal, if not one "but" - Irina can not get pregnant. She turns to doctors, undergoes a comprehensive examination and, when Denis goes to refresher courses, receives the answer: she will never have children.
Irina does not know how to report a cruel sentence to her husband, she is afraid that it will cool his love for her, because he dreamed so much of a child! Finally, she decides to have an open conversation. Denis is upset, but says that it will not affect their relationship in any way. However, Irina is full of fears, and envious people are already spreading rumors about Denis' affair with his colleague Tamara. There is ground for gossip - Tamara wants to get Denis and tries her best to kill the wedge between him and Irina.
