A young surgeon loses a patient on the operating table for the first time in his practice. Formally, he is not guilty, but he accuses himself. The deceased patient becomes his companion in an insoluble dispute with his conscience. How long does it take to accept death as a part of the profession?

The film is based on the story of three women who survived the Holodomor of the 1930s, through the prism of the memories of their descendants.

The grandmother of one of the heroines, Svitlana Zalischuk, left behind a diary in which she wrote down her memories of terrible times. A 12-year-old girl, Veronika from Uman, and her mother made a film about their grandmother, Ksenia Logvinyuk, who told where people found food and how they escaped starvation. Another 12-year-old heroine of the film Sasha did not find her great-grandmother alive, but according to her father's stories she recreated the experience of her relative.

The winner of the show Battle of the Occultists Konstantin Shumeiko earns a living by pretending to be a psychic Lubomyr Merlan. Kostya himself despises everything otherworldly and with the help of logic and erudition helps naive people to solve problems that, at first glance, seem something mystical and magical.

Meanwhile, Kostya is moved in by his brother Igor, a charming and gentle loser who tries in vain to get his wife Victoria back and win the affection of his son Mark.

Order in the apartment of the psychic is maintained by a domestic worker Valentina Ivanovna – an experienced woman who, according to the word, will not get into her pocket.

Kostya and Igor spend a lot of time in the bar where Una works – a former major who went against her father's will and now gets used to living on free bread. Instead of studying in London, she works as a bartender and dreams of becoming a wildlife rescuer in Africa.

Sometimes friends help Kostya with things and support each other.

Anya finds herself in a psychiatric clinic almost immediately after the wedding. Veronica didn't do without it here – it's time for her revenge. Anton is arrested, life is going awry. Anya is not released from the clinic, but there she sees a strange patient. He is constantly unconscious, his face is hidden by bandages, and his name is Vadim – as the late Vadim Andreevich. But the most interesting thing is that Boris often visits the patient.
