Pavlo Virskyi (1905-1975) is a choreographer who transformed the stage into a battlefield for beauty and freedom, and every movement into a small theater. The legendary Virskyi Ensemble conquered stages from Paris to Tokyo, received standing ovations in the world's most prestigious halls, and made audiences applaud while standing. His virtuoso productions, from dizzying hopaks to complex multi-figure compositions, have become the benchmark of mastery that no one has yet surpassed.

The film is based on a real-life special story of the world's first drone rescue, where a famous American journalist finds himself in the middle of a rescue operation conducted by the 3rd Special Forces Brigade, the Security Service of Ukraine and the GUR.

The mission of the operation was to extract a wounded married couple from an intersection in the occupied territory, where their car came under heavy enemy fire. However, everything becomes extremely complicated when it turns out that the life of another person is at stake: The journalist's 14-year-old daughter, who has been taken hostage by the enemy. The journalist, who until recently had been an observer of the events taking place in Ukraine, quickly becomes their protagonist. The Russians demand that he be exchanged for the girl, and the operation gains worldwide publicity with the participation of the US intelligence services, turning into a desperate struggle for life.

The film features the involvement of real servicemen and veterans of the Ukrainian Defence Forces, including the 3rd Separate Special Forces Brigade, the Security Service of Ukraine (CSO A), the GUR and the military community.

Narrated by Andriy in his old age, the story uses a fractured structure that mimics the very act of remembering, as the story itself is based entirely on Andriy's memories. The memories of the many lives he has lived blur together in a way that shows the purpose of a whole life lived in harmony with nature and God.

At one moment, we are with him as a 9-year-old boy who learns about his missing father and the rules of Ukrainian society in the 1920s.

The next moment, we are on a Ukrainian battlefield in 1939 as the 25-year-old Andriy now learns about the horrors of war in a most brutal war scene.

Each time the story jumps to another time and place in the old narrator’s memories, our hearts jump as we wonder whether he will survive the war, the heartbreak, the isolation, and even self-doubt. Ultimately, this story shows that humankind can reach enlightenment even in the harshest of times, at times of war, racial divide, poverty and inhumane conditions. The viewer is invited to follow along the main character’s path of life, to see through his eyes, to feel with his heart, to sense even the slightest changes in his internal state and mindset, and to share his breath and heartbeat. Andriy's unconditional faith proves that at the end of every tunnel there is a light because it is in the heart.
