The film is based on a real-life special story of the world's first drone rescue, where a famous American journalist finds himself in the middle of a rescue operation conducted by the 3rd Special Forces Brigade, the Security Service of Ukraine and the GUR.

The mission of the operation was to extract a wounded married couple from an intersection in the occupied territory, where their car came under heavy enemy fire. However, everything becomes extremely complicated when it turns out that the life of another person is at stake: The journalist's 14-year-old daughter, who has been taken hostage by the enemy. The journalist, who until recently had been an observer of the events taking place in Ukraine, quickly becomes their protagonist. The Russians demand that he be exchanged for the girl, and the operation gains worldwide publicity with the participation of the US intelligence services, turning into a desperate struggle for life.

The film features the involvement of real servicemen and veterans of the Ukrainian Defence Forces, including the 3rd Separate Special Forces Brigade, the Security Service of Ukraine (CSO A), the GUR and the military community.

May 7, 1901. Warsaw railway station in Saint Petersburg, Russia. A mutilated body is found on the rails. The deceased is identified as Oleksiy Alchevsky – a renowned banker, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, one of the richest people of the Russian Empire’s South. A note, found on the body, attests that it was a suicide.

Rumors, that Alchevsky was killed, start spreading all over the empire.  Realizing that this can potentially lead to a scandal, the St. Petersburg Police Department decides to investigate Alchevsky's death and entrusts the case to a young detective, Vasily Yanovsky. The investigator does not disclose to anyone, that his father was well acquainted with the deceased – so this is personal, and this is a matter of honor.

Vasily understands, that in order to solve this case, it is necessary to know everything about Alchevsky. He begins to dig and delve. Interrogating each suspect (wife, children, competitors) he makes a psychological profile of Alchevskiy, and it helps him to find answers to the main questions - was it suicide? And who has ruined Alchevsky's empire?
