The film consists of four short stories. Each part is a story of one of the family members. The first three short stories tell the story of two siblings, and the final fourth - brings to a logical conclusion everything that happened in the previous parts and reveals the story of my mother.

The older brother is a DJ who has a big debt and therefore he sells drugs, the sister is a theater actress who is constantly in trouble, and their younger brother is a promising IT man who tries to take revenge on his girlfriend, on the eve of their mother's birthday, get into trouble related to people from the criminal world. None of them guess about each other's problems. The mother, who is preparing to meet the children and her birthday, does not know either.

NOVEL # 1 - ELDER BROTHER

Burnt out at a music event, the producer, under the pressure of a large debt, is forced to work as a DJ and sell drugs in nightclubs. He falls victim to a big scam by his best friend. DJ's life is in danger. He is looking for his friend, and he is wanted by bandits, policemen, and many other people to whom he owes money.

NOVEL # 2 - SISTER

The actress of the theater, who is constantly in trouble, choosing peace and quiet instead of a loud party with friends, is taken prisoner by a wounded fugitive bandit. At first, the frightened girl dreams of salvation, but later begins to help the criminal.

NOVEL # 3 - YOUNG BROTHER

A promising IT specialist is trying to arrange the murder of an influential man who beat his beloved girl to death at a crosswalk and went unpunished. Following his plan, the guy gets into a difficult situation.

On the eve of St Nicholas’s Day, in a cosy Carpathian hotel, St Nicholas and his helpers are getting ready to grant the children’s wishes. But suddenly they find a letter that had been lost and had lain unread for over 30 years. It was written by a boy called Borya from a children’s home, whose wish never came true. The boy has grown up and stopped believing in miracles, and as his faith fades, so too does St Nicholas’s magical power. They must set things right before the festival.

Now the helpers must find Boris as an adult — the very same boy. But he bears no resemblance whatsoever to the child who wrote the letter: he is a cynical and wealthy investor who believes in neither love nor family. Following a chance accident, Boris begins to see a nine-year-old boy by his side — himself as a child. And before St Nicholas’s Day arrives, he must fulfil his childhood dream, otherwise he will lose the ability to feel joy forever, and St Nicholas will lose his magical powers.

Russian troops are regularly accused of abducting minors, then forcing them into adoptions or captivity so they can be re-educated as Russian patriots.

Children In The Fire is the collective war diary of resilient Ukrainians who witnessed the worst of humanity, yet remain motivated young athletes, performers and public servants. Through live-action footage and Ukrainian artists’ animation, the documentary joins eight kids on international journeys to pursue their goals. Each child embodies the promise of their homeland and the potential of a nonviolent world.
