Upon learning that mobilisation has been declared in Russia in the sixth month of the war, a young man decides to volunteer for the front, leaving his family behind. In the first days of fighting, he is taken prisoner, where he experiences all kinds of torment and learns what it is like to be among people who want nothing but your suffering. Fortunately, he manages to survive and return to his peaceful home. After returning home, he begins to notice things that remind him of all the terrible moments he had to endure.
