An inveterate cynical actor of a small provincial theater, Lev, gets fired after the decades he gave to the theater. He is fired for a good reason – he was abusing alcohol and his work did not make much sense, for hardly anyone would appreciate his “genius” game in these boondocks. Down and out, he is offered a deal by an old friend, a professor at the Medical University. Lev will act as a patient in a mental hospital and receive money and shelter in exchange for helping students to pass their exams. Lev goes to the hospital, where he treats its inhabitants with disgust. Soon, the ill-treatment of patients and close communications with some residents of this small world change Lev's attitude to the situation and turn the hospital routine upside down.
