Two girlfriends – Nick and Eugene – are orphans and grew up in an orphanage. Nika always felt sorry for and took care of Zhenya, and Zhenya always let Nika down and pretended. The girls come to Kyiv to enter the acting faculty, but Zhenya, as usual, substitutes Nika, and she, despite her talent, does not pass. One day, in a fit of despair, the girl throws herself under a car driven by the forgotten and heavily drinking director Yaroslavsky. He saves Nick, and eventually the relationship between the characters begins. Happy Yaroslavsky hurries to introduce his future bride to his son Ivan, not even suspecting that they already know each other and have deep feelings for each other. Nice has to choose between true love and devotion.
