Valentine is an eccentric movie mechanic. For 44 years he worked in one of the oldest cinemas in Kiev. In hardware, he rolls over a glass with war veterans, dances with girls from a nearby casting agency, or cuts his colleague's hair. Every business day is a new adventure. All of a sudden it ends when a fire breaks out in the movie theater and Valentine is sent off for retirement. He cares for his sick mother, rushing to the rescue every time she cries. Given the average life expectancy of men in Ukraine – 64 years – Valentin realizes that he has not much time left. However, it is still trying to find a new meaning in life in a rapidly changing country.
