On April 25, 1986, a young Romanian peasant traveled to Ukraine for an excursion. She was six months pregnant. The next day, the fourth reactor in Europe's largest nuclear power plant exploded, throwing clouds of radioactive dust into the sky. The girl travels to Ukraine for another 2 weeks, eating local food, drinking water and participating in a May Day demonstration, unaware that thousands of people are currently battling the largest nuclear accident in human history. The woman found out about the existence of a town called Chornobyl only after returning home. In late July, the film's director was born completely blind. He now has some eyesight in one eye, thanks to a unique doctor, mortuary cornea and 28-year-old rural girl with the power and dedication of a filmmaker's lioness.
