The film is about the father of filmmaker Andrei Zagdansky – Eugene. From 1961 to 1979, Yevgeny Zagdansky was the editor-in-chief of the Kievnaufilm studio, and from 1981 to 1992 his son Andrew worked as a director on the same studio. In 1992, his son traveled to New York. My father stayed in Kiev. Eugene's letters to Andrew and Andrew's story of his father's life are combined in the film, creating a portrait of the man, his era and a self-portrait of the author.
