The plot of the film is set in the ancient Dohyar Monastery on the west coast of Mount Athos, on the Aegean Peninsula. This peninsula is dedicated to the exclusive use of Eastern Christian monks. Images of nature are interwoven into a virtually continuous series of work and prayer, lining up in the rhythmic interconnection of man and nature. The centerpiece of the film was the monastery's elder, the abbot Gregory, whose many years of pastoral experience rewarded him with a deep understanding of the human soul and its desire to return to the state of Adam's human nature to fall.
