The European Fund for Support of Joint Production and Distribution of Cinematography and Audiovisual Works (“EURIMAGES”) was established on 26 October 1988 by Resolution (88) 15 of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, amended by resolutions (89) 6, (90) 34, (92) 3, (93) 10, (95) 4), (97) 65), (98) 10, (2013) 57 and decisions adopted by the Deputy Ministers as of December 15, 1999 and July 19, 2000 in order to encourage joint production and distribution of cinematic and audiovisual works.
The annual budget of the Fund is over 25 million Euro and is distributed in the form of soft loans to support co-production projects, as well as distribution and promotion of film projects. A separate activity of the Fund is to support cinemas, implemented in cooperation with the company “Europe Cinema”.
The Fund plays a key role in combining the European film industry, developing European networks of cooperation between professionals, expanding the horizons of national film production and improving the model of European film production. Ukraine accession to the Fund is part of the activities aimed at encouraging the development of the domestic film industry, strengthening international cultural cooperation and promotion of Ukrainian cinema at the European film market.
Ukraine accession to EURIMAGES allows to:
- submit to the fund Ukrainian projects of joint film production,
- receive funding and participate in support programs to support the fund,
- develop national film production,
- strengthen international cultural cooperation and promotion of Ukrainian cinema at the European film market.
