Alisa Kovalenko is an award-winning Ukrainian director born in Zaporizhia in 1987. After she moved to Kyiv, she graduated the Karpenko-Kary University of Cinema & Theatre of Kyiv in documentary film-making. Later on, Alisa made post-graduate studies at the Andrzej-Wajda cinema school of Warsaw. In 2015 Alisa directed her professional debut film "Alisa in Warland", about the war in Eastern Ukraine. The documentary was premiered at IDFA Amsterdam in 2015 in the First appearance competition and won several awards, including DocsMX Mexico 2016. Alisa’s second feature-length documentary, "Home Games" had its World Premiere Sheffield Doc/Fest and was selected again at IDFA, before traveling to around 50 festivals and winning 10 awards.
