The world premiere of the feature film "Numbers" by the play of the same name by director Oleg Sentsov will take place on February 18, 2020 in Germany as part of special screenings dedicated to the anniversary of the Berlin International Film Festival.
The Numbers movie was remotely directed and is unique to the Ukrainian film industry. The film was handled by a tandem of two directors - Oleg Sentsov, who was working on a film in a colony in northern Russia, and Akhtem Seitablaev, who helped to embody the idea on the set with the film's producer Anna Palenchuk. Oleg and Akhtem discussed the work process in letters that, according to Anna, were more than a hundred.
The text of the play "Numbers" was written by Oleg Sentsova before being imprisoned, in 2011. In 2018, based on the play, a performance was created, directed by director-director Tamara Trunova and artist-director Yuri Larionov, known for their work both in Ukraine and abroad.
Numbers was created in co-production with Ukraine (435 FILMS) and Poland (Apple Film Production) with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine and the Polish Film Institute.
The film is about an entrenched society that tries to overcome its fears and gain freedom. In the world of Numbers, everything obeys a strict system and a supreme ruler - Zero. Ten heroes are already used to running around in circles and doing everything according to the Book of Rules. They have no way to choose how to live and whom to love. But life changes with the advent of a new resident who does not know the existing laws.
It is planned that the tape will be released in the Ukrainian market in autumn 2020.
