La Palisiada is a project of a new feature film by Contemporary Ukrainian Cinema

04 November 2019

Contemporary Ukrainian Cinema Company has completed the development of the project of the feature film directed by Philip Sotnichenko "La Palisiada" with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Fund.

La Palisiada is a feature-length feature film in the post-Soviet noir genre, which unfolds in 1996 and covers the territory of Ukraine from west to the capital.

What is a Lapalisiada? This is one type of linguistic redundancy: a statement or remark, the meaning of which is outlined by a previous phrase bordering on absurdity. Lapalisiades create a comic effect in irrelevant tragic situations. A striking example of the lapalisiada is the film's slogan: "Two days before his death, he was alive."

Together with Philip Sotnichenko, the project is being co-authored by production director Volodymyr Usyk, producers Valery Sochivets and Sashko Chubko, production artists Margarita Kulyk and Vladimir Kuznetsov.

In preparation, the team wrote a full-length literary screenplay, auditioned, selected locations, and produced a presentation package to find funding and partners to create the film. You can now visit the project site http://lapalisiada.com, subscribe to the project pages on facebook and instagram and watch the teaser for the movie.
