The full-length debut of Home (EVGE) by Crimean Tatar director Nariman Aliyev was recognized as the best foreign film of the 7th Istanbul International Bosphorus Film Festival.
The awards ceremony took place on October 25 in Istanbul. Director Nariman Aliyev's main award was presented by the chairman of the International Jury - Philippine director and owner of the palm branch of Cannes, directed by Briante Mendoza.
In addition, Akhtem Seitablaev, the lead actor in the Home tape, received the Best Actor Award.
The International Bosphorus Film Festival was founded in 2011 by the International Bosphorus Film Association (IBCA) to develop and promote Turkish cinema. This year the festival presented 83 films from 25 countries. Together with the Ukrainian ribbon, another 8 films competed to win the international competition.
"Home" tells the story of Crimean Tatar Mustafa. Two of his sons went to Kiev after the annexation of Crimea. The story begins with the death of his eldest son, Nazim, and the father goes to the capital to return his younger son Alim home and bury his eldest in the Crimea according to Muslim traditions. Akhtem Seitablaev and Ramzi Bilyalov starred in the film. The producer of the tape is Vladimir Yatsenko (Atlantis, Wild Field), and his international promotion is the company Wild Bunch.
It will be released on November 7 in the Ukrainian home.
As it was informed earlier, the debut feature film of Crimean Tatar director Nariman Aliyev "Home" was chosen by the Ukrainian Oscar Committee as a contender for the Academy Award from Ukraine. The State Film Agency of Ukraine has allocated 700 thousand UAH for the promotion of the film abroad, with possible additional financing.
The Ukrainian premiere of the film took place at the 10th Odessa Film Festival, where it was presented in the International Competition Program and won the Grand Prix of the festival. The world premiere took place in May 2019 in Cannes as part of the "Special Look" competition. In July this year, Home became the best film of the Bucharest International Film Festival (BIFF).
The producer promises that the film will be released in France, the UK, China, Turkey and the Benelux countries.
