Ukrainian director Iryna Tsilyk's film "The Blue Earth Like an Orange" won the Grand Prix of the jury in the documentary film category of the 47th Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF).
This year, 92 full-length and 126 short films from six countries were presented at the festival, which took place on April 8-18.
The world premiere of "Blue Earth Like an Orange" took place in the World Documentary Competition section of the Sundance Film Festival, where the film won the Best Documentary Film Award. Ukrainian cinema was presented for the first time in the competition program of this most famous and largest independent film festival in the United States.
The European premiere took place at the 70th Berlin Film Festival as part of the Generation 14Plus program, and the Ukrainian premiere at the Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, where The Blue Earth Like an Orange became the best film of National and International competitions.
The film was recognized as the best documentary of the year according to the version of the National Film Critics Award "Kinokolo".
The film has already received more than 20 prestigious awards, as well as entered the official programs of famous international film festivals: CPH: DOX in Denmark, Hot Docs in Canada, MoMA Doc Fortnight in the US, IDFA in the Netherlands - the largest documentary film festival in the world, and more than 70 other festivals.
