The leaders in the number of nominations were the films "The Gate" by director Vladimir Tykho and "The Wild Field" by director Yaroslav Lodigin
On March 19, at the Oscar Cinema (Kyiv), a press conference of the Ukrainian Film Academy took place, announcing the nominees for the Third National Film Award for “Golden Jig”. Participants of the press conference were OIFF President, initiator of the Ukrainian Film Academy and the National Film Award Victoria Tihipko, Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Film Academy Volodymyr Voitenko, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Film Academy Anna Machukhimi, National Academy of Cinema Philip Illyenko, Chairman of the Board of TASCOMBANK JSC Andriy Komarist, CEO of Star Media Olga Panteleimonova, Head of Strategic Communications this "Media Group Ukraine" Elena Shramko.
Earlier, during the March 13 meeting of the Board of Directors of the Cinema Academy, the controversial issues regarding the nominees who had equal number of votes or minimal backlog were resolved in accordance with the regulation. Also in the Best Screenplay nomination was a script by Marisa Nikityuk ("When Trees Fall"), which was not previously submitted for technical reasons.
Members of the Management Board who are interested persons in one or another nomination were abstained from voting.
The highest number of nominations for the Third National Film Award “Golden Jig” were received by the film “Brama” dir. Vladimir Tykhiy (12), “Wild Field” dir. Yaroslav Lodygin (12) and "When the Trees Fall" dir. Marysia Nikityuk (10).
“It is nice that the number of Ukrainian films increases every year - 77 films were submitted for the competition last year, and this year we received 20 more films,” says Victoria Tihipko, the initiator of the Academy of Cinema and the National Film Award. - The Ukrainian Film Academy is also growing at a rapid pace. It now has 355 members, up from +46 members from last year. I will note that almost 35% of our Film Academy is women, which is 2% more than last year. This is a great trend and a nice fact for us! Our Film Academy covers all areas of the film industry - today it has 120 directors, 116 producers, 70 screenwriters, 51 actors, 28 cameramen, 28 film experts and other film industry figures. All this indicates that the Ukrainian film industry is actively developing year after year. And the results of the work of our cinematographers for the last year will be summed up on April 19 - at the award ceremony of the Third National Film Award "Golden Jig".
The Executive Director of the Ukrainian Film Academy Anna Machukh emphasizes: “The Ukrainian Film Academy, as well as the Ukrainian Cinematography, is developing rapidly. This year, we added two new ones to the nomination list - "Best Editing" and "Best Song". Their introduction is due to the fact that potential candidates have finally emerged, as there are already 22 applicants in the long list for Best Song! We have also expanded the list of professions by which film professionals can join the Film Academy - now this list is not limited to the list of professions in the nominations. The voting procedure has also been changed - all films are submitted in the nomination at once, the film academics already select the short list of nominees at the first level of voting, and at the second the winners. ”
