Presentation of the first in Ukraine film archive in VR "Open Night. Star Accelerator »

On October 10 at 20:00 there will be a presentation of the first in Ukraine film archive using virtual reality technology. The presentation will take place in the online format of the broadcast of the performance-concert.

"Open night. Star Accelerator ”is an innovative, technologically relevant and at the same time democratic format of the online archive, which will rethink the history of the festival for more than 20 years. The films of the early Open Night programs, on which a whole generation of Ukrainian viewers grew up, are almost lost today.

In 1990-2010, Ukrainian cinema went through a rather difficult and interesting historical period. Future participants of international film festivals shot their first works almost without resources. The festival team collected and digitized these works from VHS and Betacam cassettes, placing them in a new virtual medium. "Open Night. Star Accelerator is an attempt to bring back inaccessible films, digitize them and make them emotionally understandable with new technologies for new generations.

In search of the opportunity to preserve the festival collection and bring it to the audience, Sensorama and I have combined a digital archive with VR technology.

On October 10, the festival's website opennight.org.ua will launch an interactive VR-interface of the catalog in the form of a starry sky and 8 animated portals leading to 8 collages of almost 160 digitized films.

The soundtrack to the catalog was a specially created atmospheric musical accompaniment from the band minimum duo, where one of the participants is the composer Sergei Avdeev.
