07 June 2019

Marion Doring, Director of the European Film Academy, will be the guest of honor at the Third National Film Awards

Marion Doring has been working at the European Film Academy for over thirty years. She joined the Film Academy from the very beginning of its creation in 1988: first she was the PR-manager of the European Film Prize, later responsible for publications and events of the Film Academy. In 1996, Marion Doring became its director, and since 2004 she has also been the producer of the European Film Academy Awards Ceremony. In 2006, she became the CEO of EFA Productions GmbH, a company that, together with the European Film Academy, organizes the awards ceremony.

“We are extremely pleased that the European Film Academy has been welcoming our film academics for three years in a row. Last year, EFA Board Chairman Agneshka Holland gave a video greeting. And this year we are expecting at the ceremony the director of the European Film Academy Marion Doring. EFA members with a worldwide name also attended the awards ceremony of our Cinema Prize: the honorary guest of the first ceremony was Polish director of theater and cinema, Member of the Board of the European Film Academy Krzysztof Zanussi. And last year the guest of honor was EFA member and Polish Film Academy President Dariusz Jablonski. All this testifies to the recognition of the Ukrainian Film Academy at the international level! ” - says Anna Machukh, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Film Academy.

Director of the European Film Academy Marion Doring has repeatedly expressed support for the illegally convicted Ukrainian film director Oleg Sentsov. And for several years now, this information has been actively disseminated to the European film community and politicians. Members of the European Film Academy are actively involved in petitions and signatures in support of the Ukrainian Kremlin political prisoner.

This year the Golden Jig National Film Award will be awarded for the third time. Acceptance of applications for the competition lasted from December 3, 2018 until January 21, 2019. Nominees will be announced this month. The solemn ceremony of awarding the Third National Film Award “Golden Jig” will take place on April 19 at the Parky Park.
