19 August 2020

"Atlantis" by Valentin Vasyanovich, "Painted chick" by Vaclav Margoul (co-production with the Czech Republic and Slovakia) and "DAU. Natasha "directed by Ilya Khrzhanovsky and Kateryna Ertel (co-production with Germany and Russia) were included in the long list of the European Film Academy.

Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the rules for selecting films for the European Film Academy Award have been changed this year. So far, 32 European films have been included in the long list, and this is the first stage in the selection of potential contenders for the title of the best film achievements of Europe in the 2019-20 season. According to a press release from the European Film Academy, in September the list will be supplemented by films that did not have time to organize regular screenings and festival premieres by May 31, but they were scheduled and the tapes will be released or VOD platforms by the end of November this year.

A special professional committee selects the ribbons for the long list from those submitted by the right holders to the Academy. Currently, more than 3,800 EFA members (51 of whom are Ukrainian representatives of the film industry) will select nominees for the film award, which will be announced on November 7 at the European Film Festival in Seville, Spain. The winners will be announced and the winners of the 33rd European Film Academy Prize will be awarded on December 12, 2020 in the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik.
