The Ukrainian Oscar Committee has started accepting applications

Oscar Committee of Ukraine has announced that from August 25, is now accepting applications for the participation of national films in the selection for the film for the Oscar of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the "International Feature Film" category from Ukraine.

 

For 2020, the Committee has set the following dates for the selection of national films:

August 25, 2020 – September 8, 2020 acceptance of applications for participation in the competition and consultations for filmmakers on the submission of films for consideration;

September 9, 2020 – September 23, 2020 consideration of applications by the committee;

September 24, 2020 – committee meeting and announcement of competition results.

 

The Committee accepts Ukrainian films that meet the following requirements:

  1. Feature films, documentaries or animated films lasting at least 40 minutes, shot outside the United States.
  2. The dominant language of the film should not be English.
  3. The film must be released for commercial national distribution in the period from October 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020, which lasted at least 7 consecutive days.
  4. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, films that had a scheduled theatrical release but were originally available on commercial streaming or video-on-demand services may also be eligible for consideration provided they provide documentation of the government's cinema / hall closing dates. , pre-scheduled movie release and streaming distribution agreements or video to order.
