Scriptwriters with ideas for animation projects can take part in the "Scenario Pitching", which will take place from June 24 to 26 in the format of online conferences. They are allocated to a separate category.
Applications are accepted until June 10. You can submit for consideration both the idea of a project with a ready-made script and a synopsis. Scenario ideas for the implementation of animated series will be selected by members of the Ukrainian Animation Association UAIMA, representatives of channels, producers of production studios.
“Pitching ideas is not just a presentation of one's achievements, it is communication between all participants in our complex industry. I am deeply convinced that we will find unique ideas for TV series that will captivate Ukrainian viewers, regardless of age. And during the pitching we will hear each other, ”emphasizes Olena Golubeva, executive director of UAnimA, producer of the Red Dog studio, who is a member of the selection committee.
The general producer of PLUSPLUS TV channel Ivanna Naida notes that she is waiting for the appearance of "new animated series, which are based on a good exciting adventure with bright characters, with whom young viewers can easily associate themselves." "We are waiting for the appearance of a quality, competitive Ukrainian product," adds Naida.
We are looking for a new voice (new form) in order to tell stories about modern young people (25+), about their problems, pain, joys. And for us, this new voice can be animation. There are many interesting and commercially successful projects in the world that tell stories about their characters in the language of animation, such as "Bojack Horseman". This is an unusual and difficult path, but we are ready to overcome it together with talented and purposeful creators, ”said Dmytro Kitsai, Director of StarLightMedia Serial Content Development and Editing.
Volodymyr Kmetyk, director and owner of Malyatko TV, director of the Fresco animation studio, will also look for and choose interesting ideas.
The founder and general producer of the animation studio "Studio KAPI" Mykhailo Margulis is interested in "comedy series for children aged 6+, as well as for young adults": "It can be lyrical stories, fantasy, adventure, detective stories. Our studio cooperates with Ukrainian channels, but our main markets are outside Ukraine. Therefore, the characters, themes, problems and situations must be of a general cultural nature, well recognized in different countries. Which does not exclude, even encourages, the widespread use of Ukrainian contemporary themes.
“Ukrainian animation needs funny and bold films. So that we can become an important part of the world industry, ”said Dmytro Belinsky, founder and director of Pencil Animation Studio, producer of the full-length animated film Nikita Kozhumyak.
We remind you that both professional screenwriters and beginners who have ideas that they would like to present to producers are invited to participate. Loglines and synopses of existing scenarios, or ideas for scenarios, must be submitted for consideration in pitching.
