97 full-length and short films have been submitted for the Golden Jig Award.
On January 21, the submission of applications for the Golden Jig National Film Award has been completed. 97 full-length and short films were submitted for the Third Film Award. They include 27 feature films, 37 feature films, 18 documentaries and 15 animated films.
“Every year, the number of Ukrainian films increases, which is already a sign of a live cinema process. As the cinematic practice of 2018 shows, comedy tapes are the most popular - from "Mad Wedding" to "I, You, He, She," which surpassed the box office record in 2019. We hope to continue the trend - to increase the number of films, their genre, stylistic and artistic diversity, "- said Volodymyr Voitenko, Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Film Academy.
Films are currently being selected for compliance with the requirements of the Third National Film Awards. On February 4, members of the Film Academy will begin voting for the contenders for the Golden Jig. Nominees for the Third National Film Award will be announced in March.
We remind you that this year the Golden Jig statuette will be presented in 20 nominations. Two new ones have been added to the usual nominations: Best Song and Best Editing. The ceremony of awarding the Third National Film Award “Golden Jig” will take place on April 19 at the Parks Center.
