On November 12, the first meeting of the Board of the Ukrainian Film Academy took place in the updated composition. During the meeting, a new Chairman of the Board was elected, as well as the Regulation of the Third National Film Award. According to the decision of the members of the Board, the post of Chairman was embraced by Ukrainian film critic and film expert Volodymyr Voitenko.
“I warmly thank the members of the Board of the Ukrainian Film Academy for their trust. We are on the verge of only the third year of operation of the National Film Academy and the nomination of candidates - films and cinematographers - for the third Gold Dziga Award. We need to optimize and crystallize our activity, aligning it with the worrying, but urgent, and true cultural, artistic, and political, economic independence of Ukraine. The Academy of Cinema should be convincingly expressed as the confident and decisive voice of Ukrainian cinematographers in the country and in the world. The report of the necessary efforts to continue the conscious work of colleagues and the previous Chairman of the Board, director Mikhail Illyenko, in this direction ”, - said the newly elected Chairman.
Volodymyr Voitenko is a Ukrainian film critic, film expert, lecturer, author of more than 900 publications on cinema and television, member of the National Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine, editor-in-chief of the KINOKOLO.UA cinema portal and Screenwriting Workshop, author and presenter of Argument-Cinema. He received his specialization in film studies at the Kiev State Institute of Theater Arts. Ivan Karpenko-Kary (1985 - 1990). He is an author in Ukrainian and foreign periodicals, in analytical collections, festival catalogs, encyclopedias, as well as on Internet sites. In 2011-2014 he was a member of the Ukrainian Oscar Committee. From August 2014 Chairman of the Public Council of the NGO "TO" Babylon 13 ".
