Due to epidemiological circumstances and prevention of COVID-19 coronavirus spread in Ukraine, the festival team decided to postpone the event. This is stated in the press release of the festival:
We are concerned about the worldwide spread of COVID-19 coronavirus and the potential threat of an epidemic in Ukraine. The undisputed rule of holding Docudays UA is to guarantee the safety of all its participants. It was for these reasons that we decided to postpone the 17 Docudays UA Festival time to reduce the health risks for guests, participants, visitors and visitors to the festival.
This is in full agreement with the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine resolution on preventing the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus in Ukraine and the decision of the city authorities to restrict the holding of mass events in the capital. We plan to postpone the festival until at least the second half of April. However, this is not definitively determined and will depend on the future sanitary and epidemiological situation in Ukraine and in the world. Such a decision is not easy for the Festival team.
Unfortunately, the international dynamics are disappointing: we are seeing an increase in the number of patients, why flights are canceled, and countries are closed for entry and departure. In these circumstances, we have no right to harm the guests and visitors of the festival.
This year we have prepared 80 films from 34 countries around the world for the festival. A large number of the latest hits of world documentaries and high-profile Ukrainian movie premieres. More than 400 guests were invited to the festival: prominent directors, producers, heroes and heroes of their films, as well as experts / international film industry, human rights activists, and Docudays UA regional coordinators, moderators and moderators DOCU / CLUBS from all over Ukraine. Over 20 human rights events have been planned and organized.
We love this festival and feel that you love it as much as the team. Therefore, we emphasize that we do not in any event cancel the event. Instead, we invite you to wait with us for a safe moment to co-open a new documentary from 17 Docudays UA.
Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival has been around for 17 years. It is an important cultural event for both Kyiv and the international film community. Last year, we received over 24,564 viewers and viewers. About 2,000 festival fans participated in the RIGHTS NOW human rights platform! in the creative space of IZONE.
The festival is not political or commercial. We exist with funding from foreign countries, international foundations and organizations, and with the support of the Ukrainian state. As we move through the event, we suffer significant financial and organizational losses. Therefore, we hope that the city authorities will be able to promote the festival, which is an important cultural event of the capital, after the quarantine is over.
