A film about Maria Stefiuk, a Ukrainian opera singer, People’s Artist of Ukraine and Hero of Ukraine.

The film features material from the H. S. Pshenychny Central State Film, Photo and Sound Archive of Ukraine: clips from films produced by the ‘Ukrtelefilm’ studio featuring the singer.

Maria Stef’yuk performs Ukrainian folk songs and arias from operas and operettas by Ukrainian and foreign composers.

This is a chilling story of life in the city from the first days of Russia's war against Ukraine, told by those who managed to survive the hell of round-the-clock shelling without water, food, light, communication, or the possibility of escape. This is a story about pain and loss of loved ones, about war crimes committed by Russia and a humanitarian catastrophe in a city of half a million people, as well as about love and humanity.

The film is based on the stories of 11 characters, including Mariupol journalists and volunteers, who survived the city's blockade. Among other things, they shared their memories of what happened during the air strike in the Mariupol drama theater and maternity hospital.
