The film covers the period from 1939 to 1963 and reveals the circumstances of the arrest, imprisonment and release of Josyf Slipyj, which are not known to the general public.

The film pays special attention to historical events and prominent personalities of that period and their influence on the fate of Patriarch Josyf Slipyj. The film's protagonists are Pope John XXIII, US President John F. Kennedy, and General Secretaries of the CPSU Central Committee Joseph Stalin and Nikita Khrushchev.

The title of the film was inspired by the Reefs intelligence file, which is kept in the archives of the Security Service of Ukraine. The 33 volumes of the case document in detail how the Soviet authorities developed and implemented a plan to destroy the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and its head, Josyf Slipyj. These documents, which were carefully collected and stored by the Soviet repressive system, became the basis of the film.

The film includes testimonies of participants and eyewitnesses of the events, comments by historians from Ukraine, Italy, and the United States, and unique newsreel footage that the film crew found in Ukrainian and foreign film archives.

The film is based on real events that formed the basis of one of the most high-profile operations of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

The young tanker goes to the GRU where he is being trained and consecrated in the secret of this organization, which was unknown until the early 80's. The whole world knows what the KGB is where Lubyanka is located, only those who are affiliated with this organization know about the General Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff, a kind of "aquarium" from which no one ever leaves. Anyone who breaks this rule and betrays its secret is punished by death.

In the measured life of cardiologist Anton Kalinin, a girl named Alice rushes in. She says she works as a stripper at the club and begs to save her from harassment by bandits sent by one of the clients. He accuses Alice of stealing huge amounts of money that she did not take. Alice is convinced that she will be killed, so Anton decides to help her — taking her from the capital to the small provincial town where he grew up and where his parents live. But in the first minutes spent together, Anton regrets his decision. Bragging Alice does not recognize the rules, especially if they limit the freedom of the individual. She does not care for public opinion, she is sharp and tongue-in-cheek. Anton and Alice quarrel all the time. Alice is amazed at how easily Anton hangs up the labels, believing that striptease is a stigma, and a stripper cannot be a decent girl a priori.

To annoy Anton, Alice calls himself her bride, shocking her relatives with her appearance and behavior. However, over time, their attitude towards her becomes different. They see that Alice is a sincere, open-minded girl who can empathize. It completely changes the life of the Kalinin family, helps Anton's sisters to become internally free, to show their talents, to understand intricate relationships with men. After many years of quarreling, she reconciles with her father and brings the family together.

The only person Alice can't find a common language with is Anton. He does not believe her, and his suspicions are eventually justified — Anton finds a bag with money stolen from the client. It turns out that Alice is not who she pretends to be. It tells the truth that strikes Anton. Meanwhile, the real hunt for Alice begins, and the whole Kalinin family comes to her defense …
